R12 year 81 - blown joint?

Good evening folks from the forum, I have a 12 and it seems to me that the cover gasket blew. It turns out that a few days ago after stopping the car I open the hood to check that everything is OK I find that the radiator cap is empty, dry dry. I add distilled water that is what I had on hand and I take it to the mechanic, halfway I feel like a thud, I open the hood and all full of water, the mechanic told me that everything was fine, that I had left by The radiator cap, I adjust it and told me to check only that it does not come down. There I go to the service station, buy coolant and run it, with the engine running. I took out the radiator cap to see (liquid pressure jump because I had been filling the tachito), and I began to see that the coolant had like a foam up and bubbled a little. I filmed it to share it here: https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=z9sayASYF94 Tell me, what do you think, what additional symptom do I have to take into account in case the joint is blown? I add, the car has a thermostat and I always have it with coolant, it never warned me of temperature control either. I update: Seeing the comment of edu it occurs to me that the lid of the plastic pot can go wrong, taking it out the other day you see that the rubber has dried out and detached from the perforated plastic lid. Capable does not seal and I spit water out there, 2-3 days have passed and the level of liquid from Max to Min left in the little bottle.

Hi Kara. . . : the old and dear 12, has a recovery bin, plastic, transparent, connected below the radiator cap, so that you never, never, never should open the radiator cap, that reservoir has a plastic lid too, which is the Overpressure regulator that the system must have, if the cover fails and loses pressure, the water that works in some areas of the engine beyond 120 ° C evaporates and pushes the water to the reservoir and ends up evaporating everything, I think not Nothing broke, just buy the new cover, make sure you tighten it well. luck

Hi Karakachoff: apparently the thermostat opens, as the water circulates, however the r12 carries the thermostat in a water hose tight with a clamp, so first you could take it out and rule out a possibility. If you continue to put pressure on the recovery tank or on the radiator you should remove the cylinder cover and check the gasket and that the aluminum of the cylinder cover is not chopped or enlarged near the water pipes, if it is the gasket (hopefully ) ..... light brushing to the cover, new gasket and running, however if it is the chopped or enlarged cylinder cover they will have to disassemble it completely, fill it and reassemble and seat the 8 valves, so you you are going to change the valve seals and of course check the guides.

The foam is air, the hoses of the heater are going to see that in the highest part there are two screws, loosen them, the temperature knob puts it in the maximum of the red zone. When you see the locks flowing continuously, add distilled water as it goes down in the radiator. Install the new radiator cap.

What screws do I have to loosen to purge it, and what cover do I change, the metal of the radiator or the cover and the plastic container?

I suggest you change the reservoir, for a new one of good quality. that of the radiator if you see that it has signs of loss, in the fine hoses that are above, they must have screws with knurled disc, which serve to purge the system. luck

To purge, first fill the radiator, second radiator caps, third, lift the reservoir above the radiator,
fourth you loosened the traps one by one, when only water comes out, you squeeze them, fifth return the reservoir to its place, and travel the roads. luck
