Water pumps

Do not load my tank

Good everyone, I tell you my problem. Until a few months ago all the water in my house was working well, but now in several blocks of my neighborhood the pressure lowered disastrously, resorting to the provider to come to solve is no longer an option, they do not give us attention. The situation is like this: 1) I have water (very little) almost always, 9 meters from the street, in a pipe, 60cm high from the floor. 2) My cistern is located at floor level, 41 meters horizontal to the street, 65cm high from the floor. Data to date: when the tank has water, the rest of the problem is solved, since AFTER the tank I already installed a pressurizing pump with hydropneumatic tank, pressure switch and electric floating, this system works perfect! Now, I know that it is illegal to connect a pump to suck from the street water and pressurize my pipe a little, but many neighbors did it, and they generate a vacuum in my pipe, which prevents my tank from being charged every night. So my idea is to install the pump, but it will only be used a short time a day, just to load the tank, and not every time I open a tap in my house. Question: I read that peripheral pumps rise a lot, they are cheaper (they last less), but at least they have more pressure and less flow ... even so, none of 0.5HP says it works to raise more than 35m! Do you recommend any? Question 2: will be almost the same 35m vertically, that 41 horizontal meters? (the distance to my cistern) THANKS!

Hi. In reality, any bomb no matter how small it will be. If it is for a short time (they may solve the root problem) place one of those imported 1/2 HP. As for whether the elevation is the same and that the horizontal path, no, is not the same. The "effort" that the engine will make is much smaller in the horizontal path than in the vertical one. What diameter is the pipe that you have horizontally or that will be the load for the tank? regards

Good servimat1! Thank you very much for answering, you give me a little light to the whole topic.
The pipe is like this:
1) From the street to the cistern there are 41 meters away. Of which, the first 34 meters are lead and small in diameter, I calculate about 15mm. The remaining 7 meters is a new aerial installation that we did when we put the pressurizing pump with its hydropneumatic kit, and it is a 25mm thermofusion pipe

If you have lead and a small diameter, the issue will be complicated Ideally, place the pipe with the original diameter of the pump. It is usually 1 ".

The only way to lower the pressure is to lower the flow rate and speed. By this I mean that maybe your problem is the amount of water and not pressure, which means that a pump would not help, but let's be positive and hopefully there is enough flow. Regarding question 1, the pumps have a performance curve with respect to the height added between the pump and the water mirror and between the pump and the maximum lifting point. Probably adding both heights reaches 35 meters ... but 1 liter per minute ... Regarding question 2, no, the important thing is the vertical height. Horizontal distance influences performance but in a smaller proportion than vertical.

Thank you very much to all! I gave them all the attention in the world, and I am more than grateful. In the end I managed to solve the problem, I paid $ 800ARS (20 USD if they read from another country) to a plumber to come to "blow the pipe", he blew with oxygen through a large machine, with that he cleaned all the tartar pipe that there was, and now I have enough pressure to charge the tank almost at any time! I am happy to have water again. PD For later I will change all the lead pipe (approx 34m) for hot melt pipes, but for now it will not be urgent.
