Good afternoon mates. They brought me a Play Station 4 that turns off due to overheating at 5 minutes on, it doesn't let the games start. When making the respective revisions I noticed that the fan was not working. I changed the fan for a new one, cleaned the board, placed a new dissipating cream on the processor, cleaned the heat sink and the equipment worked perfectly for 15 minutes and I put a floor fan very close. I have heard that these equipments overheat a lot, that they make additional installations of coolers on the top so that the processor does not overheat, since the one that has internal does not completely supply the need for cooling. I accept suggestions of other possible damages that are causing this overheating. Thanks for your attention,

Friend if it continues to shut down, one of the internal welds may be Cracked and run a couple of minutes and turn off in that case you have to practice a reballing And measure before mounting the cpu you have to measure it with a multimeto to verify if it is bad and you have to change it if not then it is mounted and ready.

hello, coincidentally yesterday I updated the software and then restart it from the safe mode option 6, I deleted all the settings. Once these 2 processes are finished let it cool for an hour. After 1 hour I tried again but everything remained the same. I decided to change the dissipative cream again by applying approximately 2 grains of rice throughout the center of the micro where the DIE CPU is located, without spreading the cream. I assembled the equipment again and did not turn it on in 12 hours. Today I did tests and played for 1 hour 30 min, it didn't go out; I turned it off for safety and will continue testing. Thank you

Hello, I tell you that today that I wanted to play for tests, I was able to play for 45 minutes only, since it gave me the warming notice. Of the tests performed on ps4 I have 2 observations by which this damage can be followed:
1.- The dissipating cream I use is generic and I have it for more than 2 years. Tomorrow I will buy an MX-4 dissipative paste, which is what I have been recommended for this equipment.
2.- When cleaning the processor dissipation plate for the first time, I noticed a deterioration or gaps in the metal that covers the DIE CPU, at first glance I imagined that they were lumps of the old paste

ok, would the rebaling be only the processor?

The truth seems as if the previous paste had eaten the aluminum metal; in which case it would only happen if they had applied liquid metallic dissipative solution that is the one that causes this type of damage to aluminum and that is why the heatsinks necessarily have to be copper, I will continue testing. After all tests, the best best solution is definitely reballing to the processor. Many thanks to all the comments and help
