Hello I repair community, I annoy you because they do not turn on the lights of my Renault 12 Mod 89. Fifth box (I do not think that has to do, but hey). About 5 days ago, I came with the car very quiet as always, and suddenly I felt a slight burning smell ... it caught my attention because it was like the smell of burnt plastic ... but as I just passed through a field where things usually burn I did not pay attention to it, that day I arrived at my house and kept the car as usual, the next day I was in the car again and I felt the same smell again, that already caught my attention, since twice the same smell and On different days and places I certainly began to think that it was coming from my car, then for reasons of time and for my forgetful head I did not remember to check what it could be. That day I arrived at my house as usual and kept the car, but went to the other day I wanted to leave and trying to turn on the lights did not work. The lights that don't work specifically are the front and middle lights, and the rear lights. The reversing lights, front and rear winks and the stop lights do work. Obviously the first thing I did was check the rifle, but from what I saw no fuse is bad, then I checked the relay…. the relay is like this .. Because by chance I had another one in good condition, like this I changed it to see if it was that, but nothing. they did not light up, without a doubt something happened, I started looking for cables to see if something was burned or scorched, but I did not find anything, take out the “moldings” of sheet metal that are below and where the cables pass, but I could not see anything, but I am sure, for that smell to feel, that the problem must be in some cable. So, with no intention of taking more time, could you help me by telling me that I could, or what would be the first thing I have to review? Or what cables to see. Most likely, the problem is in the flywheel command key, check if power comes to it and if it comes out when you actuate it, position light, high beam and low beam have to come out. If this becomes the problem, before putting another you have to check well, because they burn when there is a short film.

I have doubts with the relay because if it is not placed it makes short, first that. Second measure, I don't know how old the light switch is, but the internal contacts may not work, the horn is on the same key and does it work or not? The red wire always carries the current so that one tip of the lamp there and another to the chassis turn on the light, if it does not turn on try the same but by opening the circuit with ignition key.

Sorry! I got confused!!! I wanted to give you a "positive" but I don't know why the problem continues, the horn is in the same light switch, and it works correctly, I tried two relays, and nothing happened, unless I had the bad one lucky that both are bad, and as for the red wire of the key, I put a wire to the chassis and another to the red wire and the test light turns on.

Sorry, I changed the key a while ago, because the one I had before, I suppose the factory ... heated it warmed until one day they didn't turn on the lights anymore, it didn't heat up, it worked properly until this happened.
