how to connect conventionally a modern valeo alternator

Hey guys, how are you? I am adapting an alternator, which I pretend to a Chevrolet Sonic, to an old Ford 221 engine, I have put this engine in a motorhome, and I got this alternator, which is 100 amps, to replace the conventional 38 amps. The topic is as follows, the voltage regulator of this alternator has two pins, one that is DFM and the other is RVC attached the photo of the regulator and the alternator at the end. and I don't know how to connect it, in a conventional way, positive bone battery in B + and lamp to the contact as an excitation. If you could help me, I would really appreciate it.

Hello, that alternator is not Valeo, it is a replacement for a Delco Remy alternator, that is not a problem, the issue is the regulator, the one you have is completely handled by the vehicle's computer, otherwise it could cause it to not work. What I would do in your case is to look for a regulator that does not work in an electrical workshop, to use it only as a brush holder, and place a regulator outside, type Nosso MEF 13 or whatever you want. If you do that, I tell you how to install it.

Yes, that is the idea, I once did that, using the coals, one to ground and the other at the exit of the regulator, and on the other side of the regulator contact, I imagine that this is the same, but I prefer you tell me that you know. I was going to use the same carbon carrier regulator only if this happened, what I imagined could not be placed sensibly by connecting it.

That regulator is expensive, if you can, negotiate it and get one that does not work to use as a brush holder. Whatever you use, empty it completely, there are no connections inside, only the coals in the chassis. To one of the coals send it to the ground, the other takes a whip until the regulator leaves the field. If you want the pilot light to work, you will have to put three diodes to the alternator, of those little ones of 2 amps each, the anode of each diode connects it to the output of each of the phases of the alternator, you join the three cathodes and you put a whip to the positive input of the egulator, and in that same input you connect the csble that comes from the pilot light. If you are not interested in that light working, skip all this and power the regulator with a cable that has contact.

I forgot to tell you that the diodes can be placed outside the alternator, weld the anodes of each on the plate where the stator tips are welded.
