If it is the positive cable that connects to the battery, you should check the insulating washers that the current output bolt has.

The quality of the answer depends on the quality of the question.
A cable that is reheated to the point of burning, which an invention can produce, is because the gauge is smaller than what it needs because of the amount of current it conducts and because it is NOT PROTECTED WITH A FUSE.
You have to indicate what you connected and its power, which is causing the cable to overheat.
