Hi. That happens because the battery lets out acid through the same terminal. It does not seal well and makes sulfate. Corroborates the battery charge. It usually happens when the charging voltage is higher than adequate (approx. 14 volts), it makes the acid boil and seeks to leave somewhere by pressure. It must also be taken into account that the battery may be defective (its terminals are lead and are usually drilled). Ideally, if all is well, you should change it for a new one. You can prevent your wires from being ruined by placing WD-40 type oil or even Lithium grease on them after thoroughly cleaning the parts with boiling water and if necessary, a scrape on both terminals. This prevents corrosion. Now if your cables and terminals have been exposed to the acid for a long time, it is convenient that you change them as they lose conductive power and end up damaging other parts. A hug.

It may be just that damaged terminal. In the same way I measured the load. Because if you charge more, it will always happen and with any battery you put. I recommend that you remove the sulfate terminal, clean very well with boiling water and if necessary with some type of wire sponge. Before assembling, apply some common grease to both the battery and the cable terminal. Arm and tighten well. A special spray comes for these cases, but it also works with grease. Do not forget to rate the answers that are useful to you. Hug.

I forgot to recommend that you make sure that said terminal makes good contact. If he is making false contact, it also brings problems.

Gemedin23 What you are commenting is a rare thing, because the one that sulfates is the positive (+) terminal and not the negative (-). To prevent it, they have already mentioned it. One reason is the excessive battery charge. The terminals must be neutralized with a solution of water with bicarbonate and then protected with petroleum jelly.

where should I smear the terminal internally? right where it makes contact with the battery?

Complete, the lead terminal of the battery and the terminal.
The idea is that petroleum jelly produces an insulating layer to the acid and does not attack the terminal.
