Ford Sierra, no spark goes from the distributor to the spark plugs

- As everything seemed fine, I decided to take the lid off the power distributor and I started to see if the ROTOR turned and did not turn, is it possible that it has broken or is it the case in the SIERRA? - Look in my other car that is a Ford Taunus and turn when you start even to move the engine by hand my doubt is because seeing the manual of the SIERRA it is seen that its CURRENT DISTRIBUTOR is different from that of the TAUNUS Thank you

The logical answer is, if you ask for the "ROTOR", it is because it rotates, turns, turns, if not, it would not be a rotor. luck

Any existing distributor has to turn. Before removing it, you have to mark its position on the base, and the motor to which side it points to see if the splines of the shaft were not erased, or if it broke but that is impossible, never pass. The cam shaft is the one with the endless, or elicoidal thread. It joins the distributor, if it does not turn it can be two things. the cam shaft that would be very rare was broken or the teeth were erased in either of them, but if you didn't remove the distributor from its place you wouldn't know. I had the cope taunus and the Sierra. The only difference is that the Sierra already came electronic without platinum. But it was the same. clarified the cope was SP5 85. if you are going to do it, fix it and mark at the base of the distributor where it has the tightening nut and mark the position on the block and on the distributor. taking out the lid, mark it on the distributor and where the rotor points, and then just take it out.

In the end the mechanic came home and told me that the toothed belt had been cut and that is why the rotor did not turn, so I change it and it is already going, thanks for your answers
