Initial failure of no video if audio on TV SONY KV-29FS120

good morning colleagues I have received this previously mentioned Sony TV model with BA6 chassis, initially, with the failure to give video just listening to the sound. When turning on this TV at first the video appeared but it vanished in a few seconds leaving a background like gray and on its right side of the screen some dark lines that some were reduced and others not so much as wanting to try to close the horizontal deflection. after this point, perform a visual inspection as a first step, checking that the filament was on, which is what it was like ... then check that the video amplifier IC had at least its supply voltage which was present as well as the voltages of the G2 Seeing that there was no problem on the TRC cannon card, I proceed to perform the check in the ABL section where in its path I find the R584 18K resistor fully open and here I proceed to replace it but with a resistance that is not precision but that has the same ohmic value. Once set I proceed to turn on the TV and at that moment he gave me video and everything seemed to stabilize, however after the ignition it remained for at least 10 seconds and during that time it was heard at the same time, with the TV on, a high voltage leak that I could not observe to such an extent that I ended up turning off the TV flatly without any chance of turning it on again since it did not obey so much on the front power button as on its remote control. After this new problem, check the THS (2SD2645) to determine if it was affected and so it was, since when measuring between base and emitter it emits continuity beep marking 90 ohm, but the measurement between emitter collector did not show damage, managing to measure its internal damper diode, which I finish by removing it from the board and proceed to check that the source delivers its required + B (135.2 volts read with a 60 W focus as a load). From this point I begin to suspect that the flay back may have problems, however I also checked the yoke and at this point the measurement of the horizontal coil is 1.2 ohm which I do not know if that is normal, the measurement of the coil Vertical is 8.2 ohm. Now when trying to measure the frequency of the horizontal this gives me a value of 16.14 KHZ which I think is very high considering that it has the THS removed from the plate and knowing in advance that it is to be approx. 15.7KHZ I would like to have the support of colleagues to know their opinion and thus know what measures to take on this issue since if I place another horizontal I run the risk of burning it, in advance thank you very much.

The readings of the TSH must be done with the component outside the circuit. If it is a transistor with internal Damper between B and E it also carries an internal R.

thanks for answering colleague javier chavez affirmatively the measurements for the THS were made disassembled from the printed circuit, the damper is well measured with the red tip on the emitter and the black tip on the collector in reverse this does not measure, however, between emitter base it is not what resistance should be marked there, the only thing that I know is that despite marking me 90 ohm and giving me a beep of continuity it gives the feeling that this was altered. I compared it with another transistor with damper and it measures me a resistance of the order of 112 ohm and does not give me a continuity beep.

Let's see, to measure BE in this TSH or HOT 2SD2645 (D2645), or in any other that incorporates DAMPER in the same package, it is not correct to use the function "continuity" of the tester, but to opt for the function resistance (Ω), if the tester (DMM or DVM) is not auto-range, opt for the lowest scale (200Ω) and to avoid reading error join the 2 measuring points and write down the obtained reading (a good tester does not exceeds 1Ω) to subtract this value from the future measurement between BE of the transistor. Now, the reading of this D2645 does not exceed 50Ω. To dynamically test its operation, I suggest you disconnect a terminal at L513: 10uH and then remove it at L588: 6.8uH to temporarily replace it with that filament lamp (60W), used in the + B test. Only if this lamp is illuminated to the order of ignition, it will denote the good condition of the D2645, if the illumination lasts a few seconds will it indicate the activation of the Protection System that incorporates this TV; If this happens, count the number of times (sequence) the panel LED flashes to make sure which section is failing. Regards! Joansoler.

could you tell me exactly where the L503 coil is located? or which section does it belong to? I have looked for it in the card and there is none, as well as in the schematic diagram that I have since I am interested in performing this type of dynamic test in THS but with another flay-back that I have managed to achieve, which is working. thanks...

Sorry, it was L588 and not L503, it is connected to pin 2: + B of the FBT (Fly Back Transformer).

Good morning friend joan soler, I commented that I have done the test that he suggested by placing the 60W bulb in the place where the L588 is located and at the first light the bulb lit and remained lit, concluding that the THS did not present any problem, and at reassemble the coil L588 in its place, also after the change of flay back that I managed to get and when connecting the tv to the mains again showed video on screen again. To the friend Joan Soler, a thousand thanks for helping me by contributing his valuable ideas to the rest of the colleagues who also contributed, to them a thousand thanks ...
