Good morning. I have been offered with a Sony KV-25X5E CRT TV with very little use (one month a year at the beach house) with the idea of using it for retro. Convergence, colors, definition is very good. But if I have noticed that on a black background (or black areas), very fine horizontal lines appear from top to bottom, static, slightly inclined to the right side, I would say lilac or dark gray with a separation between them of about 2.5 or 3 centimeters. In fact the owner had not noticed.I have the doubt to keep it and take it to a technical service but I turn to you to see if what I tell you can guide me. I don't want to get in a way that can lead me to have to pay for a pasture… Thank you very much for your attention.

Hello, it seems to be rather that you are seeing delay lines, to know it you would have to lower the screen a bit from the fly back to see if they disappear. Maybe at some point they have risen due to lack of brightness because the tube is suffering from exhaustion.

Lower the brightness and contrast level from the USER MENU a little and if these lines disappear, the problem is solved by readjusting the SCREEN, this already implies uncovering the television and risks to its physical integrity. If the lines are hidden or disappears with the brightness and contrast readjustment you can use it would not affect anything.

Thank you all for your comments.
If it's true, give me that my knowledge is less than basic.
If I have opened other TVs and I have cleaned and disassembled them but it does not happen to recognize elements and understand how it works globally.
I will try to touch the screen. If it does not improve I will take it to a specialist ... that if I value and invest money more than anything on TV is new.
Thank you very much to all.

It is worth investing since it is a good quality TV. Rate the contributions. The forum gives you thumbs for that purpose.

Hi Oscar. You say they offered you a TV that is going well with well-defined colors and a small flaw of horizontal lines that are not very visible. And they do not affect the operation of the TV. We cannot tell you to acquire it or not you decide that. He wants us to guide him because No He wants to take him to a technician to avoid paying for a pasture. Thing I don't think so. You are not a technician and are you going to get your hands on something you don't know? Do you have the instruments for a repair? Do you know how to use them? And if the TV spoils worse? or something like a download happens? You have to know friend. For that one studies. He has doubts whether to acquire it or not. Get in doubt too. Telling myself I can repair it. Won't I send myself a macana? Ask friend. Because it is not advisable to help and less by this means who does not have knowledge on the subject. Because he would put his life at risk. Remember that you work with current. Commonly by what it says about the fault it can be solved with a simple adjustment. But that mismatch is per component out of value. Devalued by use. Logical. If we calibrate over time the fault returns. Unless the TV was repaired and the technician left that out of adjustment. salu2

your fault is vertical but if you have no knowledge take it to a reliable technician

Hello Sergio.
Can these types of problems be expensive to solve?
