Hi. There is no problem that you replace the cables. What if you do it with wires of the same or a higher section. In general, the machines have a multifilar cable between 19 and 24 mm². They are measures not recognized for being exclusively for welding machines and will always work with voltages below 100 volts. They are somewhat expensive because they are special for these applications since being built with many "filaments" they achieve flexibility. You can replace them with "common" cables for electrical installations of 16 mm². What if, these are harder, less flexible.
