Semi Hermetic or Hermetic Compressor

Good afternoon, I would like to ask the foristas for advice on the following problem: I have a small business that has a few decades, in it there are 4 refrigerators that use Copeland semi-hermetic engines that will be at least 20 to 30 years old, as they can be repaired they have been repaired, recently in my country (Venezuela) among the strong An economic crisis has also occurred a tremendous electricity crisis that brings with it recurring dips and increases in power and voltage, bringing huge compressor repair costs. Now I see that a Hermetic compressor although it is not repaired (although there are people who repair them) cost a fraction of a hermetic one, and it is where I enter a crossroads where their advice would be worth, and I have thought if it is not better to change those compressors for airtight that should be less noisy, hot and bulky or leave the semi-hermetic that can be repaired. Would it be worth changing the compressors? Thank you very much in advance for your time and answers. PD: For the dips and rises of voltage install proitectors and for the power some supervisors.

Dear Jose DC. My suggestion is to continue using Copelametic semi-hermetic motor compressors. So that these are not damaged by electrical problems you should install protectors due to lack and phase unbalance, and in the event of low voltage, you solve it with an "automatic voltage booster"; It is more complex when energy is lacking. All hermetic motor compressors are electrically and mechanically more delicate.

Friend, when you talk about automatic tension elevator, what exactly does it do? Because if low voltage is coming, would you send the compressor off? Or try to stabilize the tension?

Automatic elevators or voltage stabilizers by zero crossing maintain the tension between 5 and 7% accuracy. I have one installed in my mother's house and it rises with a minimum of 160 volts and stabilizes it at 220 volts + - 7%. Greetings - Castelar

Hi Jose, it does already have a protection connection for Copeland compressors, I do not see the need to replace these anti-war guerrillas with modern ones, it still has the possibility of getting spare parts for them, in addition to a good specialist that leaves them ready and like new . Why the new investment? It is true that a modern compressor can become much more efficient than one of its Copeland, but I assure you that they will not last even half the life of any of your warriors. S @ lu2 friovega63.
