Good friends I have an air 12000 btu window general electric brand .. use 2 capillaries tell me it is 0.49 the diameter. But my question is: how much is the appropriate length? Why I measured the pressure with the red pressure gauge and I had 275 psi when I should have 250 psi or less before all that I did cleaning the system and changing the filter and capillary

Now I suggest you measure the efficiency of your equipment, check the thermal jump, which is the temperature of expulsion of the air into the room and the temperature of the air absorbed by the evaporator, if it is in a range of difference between 12 and 15 degrees it would be all good

I understand your suggestion. But what worries me is that if the pressure exceeds 250 psi in the steam line this could cause serious damage to the compressor

Normally when the ambient temperature is high the pressures rise and reach that range.
Measure the suction
If you think it is very high 275psi with cutting a small section to the capillary will lower the discharge.
