Repair cement water tank with leaks

Good morning everyone. It turns out that I have an old cement water tank that over the years several fissures formed in its walls and also has a moisture like perspiration, because of that I had to disable it and make a direct connection with the water of the street (with which I suffer lack of pressure). I know that the ideal solution would be to change it for a modern one of plastic or fiber cement type, but since I am private I do not have the means to raise it to the third floor where it is located (something inaccessible) and consulting with professionals they ask me for a very high price. That is why I want to repair it or else I will continue with the direct connection of the street. Among the immediate and economical solutions I found are: • Make an interior plaster of portland cement with a ceresite-type water repellent (although they say that a primer or bond bridge needs to be used). • Make a coating with some other sanitary Klaukol type water repellent. I saw that for fiberglass or fiber cement tanks there are kits such as the "Repair Patch Km 305", although they say it is not used for cement. And another interesting thing I saw is a video of Mexico about products called Aquaplug and Sellotex . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGd2-IlUdG4 (put in the second 33) In that video I was surprised to see that I could seal the leak with the water coming out with pressure. Mine is not so extreme but it would be useful to have such a product (I am from Argentina and I have not been able to find alternatives to these Aquaplug or Sellotex)

Hi The fastest, easiest to apply and relatively inexpensive thing I can suggest is Sika top 107, it is a ready-to-use prepared mixture, you just have to add water and apply as a fine plaster. It is sold only by Sika distributors, check their website which is closest to your home. I hope you serve the suggestion, greetings!

Thank you very much for your solution. When I looked for Sika components, I made a salad on my head since they have dozens of products. I will try to implement the Sika top 107 after implementing the Sikadur 32 gel that recommended servimat1 as a double reinforcement, one inside and one outside.

Hi. We have solved this problem in many tanks and tanks using directly Sikadur 32 Gel. It is a monolithic painting as if it were Poxipol but on an industrial level. The interior should be cleaned well with pressurized water (better a pressure washer) or with a bristle brush. It is rinsed and the product is applied. The surface does not need to be dry. If you do it one morning on a sunny day in the afternoon you can already give the water. I guarantee you will never lose again. This adhesive is really strong and penetrates all cracks. You can cover only the cracks or the inside of the entire tank. It will make an indestructible waterproof layer. To see that the product is really resistant, save the skin you use to apply the product and after 24 hours try to break the part of the bristles. regards https://arg.sika.com/dms/getdocument.get/843c455f-934c-3d51-b0ba-b3fbf6298f08/Sikadur-32%20Gel.pdf

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and the product chart. As I told MDQ Heating I was lost when I wanted to ship Sika products, given the wide variety. On the Sikadur 32 gel I saw that it has use as an adhesion bridge, so as a first step I would implement the Sikadur 32 gel internally (as you said first cleaning, rinsing, etc.), and then flooding the tank to see that there are no losses. Then I would be trying to take advantage of the Sika top 107 that recommends MDQ Heating as reinforcement. Thanks again.
