Underground junction splice with sintenax

Hello, first of all greetings and congratulations to all the members of To Reparo. My query is as follows: I have to install several spots in a garden, the line will be buried, using 2x1.5mm sintenax. Now my question is how to make the derivation from the main line to each spot, that is, I will have to use some waterproof box in each branch or there are some shunts that allow us to ignore the boxes. Thanks a lot

Hi. For this you must use watertight boxes with cable press. There are PVC and aluminum. The latter are not used because of their high cost but those of PVC of recognized brands work very well and are approved. Replace the underground cable of 2 x 1.5 with another of 3 x 1.5 so you will have grounded in each appliance to be fed. regards

Hi to make splices in boxes is as Servimat has mentioned to you, I would still use a gel that is to make the splice issue even safer, it is a gel that is placed inside the box once the splice is made and dried, then it cover the box. This causes that the humidity and the water that could get in do some problem. However, these cables are not usually spliced. Can you upload an outline of how that "main line" would be? Normally in these cases it is best to arrive with a cable to the spot, splice another cable to another spot and in that same splice, splice the cables of the spot. Then everything would be solved in a single joint and inside the luminaire. You should also use several turns of insulating tape, self-vulcanizing tape and again insulating tape.

Hi The isolation of the bypass in the yard should be done in (inside) the luminaire above the floor level, in that case it is not critical since you should not deal with extreme humidity or water; The joint must be neat and you can use self-vulcanizing 3M tape next to common tape interleaved. In the case that you cannot do the above, I recommend that you make a joint for a wet area or with water, of the "bottle" type, or simply with safe isolation techniques; I would never place a box that probably accumulates water and is probably not airtight. With safe insulation technique, I mean layer on layer of common insulating tape and self-insulating insulating tape while finishing the curb ends on a single cable, never two together; this type of splices , maybe something improved with thick-walled spaghetti I have used in pumps submerged in water, so it may well be on land, but remember that if you use a box and Water is introduced, the remedy is worse than the disease. Greetings to all
