Household Electricity

Cable Section for 40 Amper

How are you doing? I have a general thermal of 40 amper which I reach from the meter with 10 mm cable. Then it goes to a 40 amper circuit breaker with 10 mm cable and from there to a high and low protector with 10 mm cable. After the protector I go with a 10mm cable to a terminal strip to join all the thermals, and at the output of each therma according to the amperage of the same reduces the section of the cable. I wanted to know: if the sections of the cables are good and how to see if the strip that joins all the thermics withstands 40 amper well (I found it better to join all the thermals with a strip than to make 10 mm bridges) Here in Argentina they say "comb" to that strip

friend, the comb is 63 amper is fine, and the cables also, 10 mm of section supports 50 amper, the immediate smaller measure is 6 mm and supports 36 amper would lack capacity, so it is all right, luck!

Thank you so much!! Did you ever see single-phase connections like this 40 amp input? Do you think I support it well?

I lived for a time in a small oil town in Patagonia, and there was no other way of heating and cooking that the electricity of the single-phase connections was 10 mm. although they limited the load with a fuse of 40 amper in the tap of line

Richard:
What you should see to ensure the capacity of your power supply is the maximum allowable intensity of your meter
Single phase services support up to 10 kW
Beyond everything you should consider if your installation requires that power and take into account that from 32A three-phase is recommended

very good answers! I have oversized installation at this time. In the future, it will have 3 air conditioners and I have to feed a quincho in the background. Curiously, for what reason after 32A is three-phase recommended?

Not to overload the lines so much
After 32 A three phase is recommended
After 50A it is mandatory three-phase

I wanted to put this as the best solution, but I got another one :( sorry, I don't know what happened.
Thank you! but do you think that with 40 amper it is dangerous monophasic? as always a million thanks!

If the installation is well sized, it is not dangerous. In your case everything seems to be correct

Ricardo: what you did is perfect. It is what you should have since you have an important section of cable which is impossible to make bridges. What keeps me spinning is how did you install that high and low protector? how many ampere does it support? because the ones I've seen support only 32A. It may be necessary to install a contactor.
