Three-leg plug standard

Hello I am from Argentina. Here the norm of the three-legged plugs indicates that looking at a front socket, with the ground below, on the right the neutral must be in phase and on the left. The shots of my house do not respect the norm, it is worth taking them apart to put them accordingly or in practice is it the same to leave them like this? Thank you.

Hello The polarization of the sockets is a matter of safety , since household appliances and electrical equipment in general assume that the live is to the right of the outlet, therefore its circuit is conditioned to that point . From a simple nightstand to a sophisticated audio equipment they have a switch that cuts (cuts) the live cable, not because they know what the phase is, but because it cuts the cable that should be. It is the same situation whereby the key cuts the live in a lighting circuit. If the polarization of your shots is random, you must rewire them one by one, if they are badly armed from a group, you turn the section of the affected circuit. This security failure does not carry a direct danger, but as I mentioned it can lead to an electric shock in components or devices that we believe without voltage; It is in you to assess the risk you take, it is not much the difference that driving a vehicle with the broken handbrake, nothing can ever happen, but ...

As it is from Argentina and respects the rules, surely its differential, will tell you if the polarization is wrong, do not you think nasator ?, greetings

Hi Alualo, the differential does not discriminate by polarization, only by earth leakage, although it is true that if we cut the live pole with the appliance switch it is more difficult for a discharge or leakage (if a person touches) by the neutral , and this circuit breaker trips.

Taking the socket out of its box (always cutting off the power of the main key as a precaution) takes a matter of minutes, if you give yourself a hand to do so, it is convenient to see if the javelin ground is connected to the lower leg. If the socket is correctly connected, it is easier for a fault + for the technician to measure with a pager or other problems that could arise. regards

How to operate, artifacts work the same, but artifacts manufactured in Argentina respond to IRAM standards, so that an imported artifact, which has inverted connections, must be adapted to IRAM standards. This is a matter of security. If an imported device has the connections with phase on the left and neutral on the right, like its outlet, there is no need to make any changes, because it is respecting the rules of the country of origin and there is no danger.

Thank you all for your comments. Finally I opened the boxes that were badly wired and left the sockets according to the norm.
