installation of radiators - teflon or hemp

Hello, I have to install some aluminum radiators, the accessories bring all rubber gaskets, but the stainless steel nipple that goes to the exit of the wall and not the valve or detentor, so I wanted to know that it is better to avoid leaks, Teflon or hemp with seals thread, or hemp alone. My idea is to use hemp, because I have already used it and it never loses when installing, instead with the teflon and the sellarosca it happened to me that I lost when trying and I had to reload the thread with Teflon. I would also like to know if over time the hemp does not cling to the thread, it is not something that in the future you want to unscrew the nipple and break it with the thread inside. It happened to me with a cast iron tap that screwed with teflon and sellarosca and when it was removed it broke and the thread remained inside (but in this case I don't know if it was the poor quality of the tap or the hard grip of the teflon and the sellarosca). Well, I await your comments. Slds

Hi. you can use hemp with green H3 sealant or better yet, if you get it, the gray one (also from H3) that is for pressure. regards

Thanks, the idea is to use hemp alone. I have sellarossca H3 green, but I would like to avoid it so that the threads do not get caught in the future and because of a topic of neatness, since every time I use sellarosca something ends up green!

Hi AFC: Personally I use hemp with grease, from the common, I am against sealants, because if one day you have to disarm it is a headache. to the stainless steel nipples the thread so that the hemp does not run. LUCK

OKAY. jewel, I had seen the bite of the thread in a couple of Spanish tutorials. I am in doubt about the issue of subsequent disarmament, although it is something that should not be disassembled for a long time, although consultation is never known. Fat of what kind? lithium (the red one)? or some a little more liquid?

common grease, red or graphite or the clearest that come, it is not necessary to place much, it is so that it is a little lubricated hemp and does not get hooked on the threads when entering, I have facilities that are working years ago like this, LUCK

The weekend I spent installing the radiators, all connections with hemp and a little grease to comb the hemp at the end, except for a union of a nipple of a detentor that I made with teflor and sellarosca H3 green. When I filled the circuit and put 2.5 bars to test, the only connection leaked, little but leaked was the teflon and sealant. One hemp hemp, it is more in a couple of connections only use a couple of fibers which made the thread between all without force like this and so and everything does not lose.
Thanks Walter.

You can't mix hemp and Teflon. It is one or the other.

Hello, although the subject is old, I take the opportunity to ask ... I was recommended to make this same union (heating nipples) with LAR sealant and hemp. Would this sealer (I don't know) come to work like grease? I never saw this material and I don't know what it is. Thank you.

The best and most practical is the low torque trabasil. The only bad thing is the cost. Better than that there is nothing.
