good I have an Optocoupler 817c I fed it with 3v on its led diode input (1-2) ok .. then with the multimeter in diode selection I measured at the output (3-4) in a sense it measured me 057 and when I turned the Multimeter tips measured 1260, will it be damaged? Can I replace it with an 817b?

Hi, I think that if you feed at the input with voltage, at the output you should not measure with a diode, the only measurement with the diode is at the entrance of the same without being powered, it is a photo diode input and photo transistor output, there is no physical union between Entry / Exit, at the entrance it has a mark or a point that is anode and the other on the cathode side, with your meter in red tip diode in anode and black in cathode that is the only measure, the truth I have not tested with voltage at the entrance and measuring at the exit without being connected if it gives any measurement but I think that some listener gives you a solution and so we learn

if yoc that of q do not connect and the point, I did the test with voltage because I saw it on youtube, but the man measured from one side

Hello colleague, here I send you a simple optocoupler tester. You can use a socket to place them. It can be one of eight pins and you use those that apply. You can adjust the resistance values according to the sensitivity of the Vometer. For the 3 volts you can use two batteries of any size as the consumption is minimal. You can also add a resistor between pin 1 of the PC817 and the potentiometer cursor, so that the 3 direct volts of the battery are never applied to you. (In my case I had to put one of 1,500 ohms.) The PC817 is working fine, if when you move the potentiometer the needle of the level meter moves. I hope you find it useful. It gave me a very good result. regards (The Vumetro is a sound intensity meter that usually comes in audio amplifiers, in this case it is analog, or needle, and it is very cheap. You can also use an analog tester at the lowest scale of Miliamperes.)
