Electronic friends, I hope not to be confused in the forum, and I hope you can help me, after a long time I try to resume what programming is ... I have been using the microcode to program in c, and I have been simulating with the well-known proteus .. . until here everything is fine, my problem is ... now that I want to pass my projects to real ... I opted to buy the module to record PICKIT 3, I installed the driver ... and the oc recognizes the module, but no the pick that I try to use ... in this case 16f628, I am trying to start with the basics ... in the tab of the program where the info of pic's is displayed I find the 18f ..., 20f ... etc ... among others ... and the 16f does not appear to me ... if you have knowledge of why and what I should do ... please I will be very grateful for your comments ...

greetings, before the box where the pic appears, there are some options for pic families, choose first there are all families and then below enter the pic you want to program gives you to connect and you must recognize the pic. additionally you will have to do one of two things. 1-feed the pic with an external source to be able to program it. 2- enable the power supply via USB and thus program it without the need for a stern source, in this case it is programmed outside the circuit or with it without power.

Thank you dear, I found my problem, what happens is that I am using a ZIF socket, the problem was in the configuration of the jampers ... and when deploying the tab in family of controllers I think only the new ones appear, since even recognizing me the 16f628a is not yet on the list ...
Thanks for your help friend.
Greetings and success

Dear, let's see if you can help me to conclude with this, I get to record the pic, but something is not right, since riding the protoboard does not work as it should, I am trying to do something basic with LEDs that are well protected, but not in protoboard, I don't know if I have to configure something additional for the use of the glass ... or I don't know.
Thanks in advance for the help provided.

regards. The pic16f628 has the option of internal RC a project with LEDs does not strictly require a glass, but if it is microcode basic, at the beginning write the line: DEFINE OSC 4, the 4 corresponds to the oscillator MHZ puts there is the value of the oscillator (1 , 2, 4, 8, 16, 20). or does not put any line and will be internal RC by default.
the other is to remember to put a resistor to the MCL pin, so that the pic works, it comes from 5v to that pin you can use 10k.

Greetings Junior! One of the biggest drawbacks of pickit 3 in addition to its slowness is precisely its inability to detect the micro it is programming. Unlike how it had been done with pickit 2, in pickit 3 it is first necessary if or if you select the microphone and then compare it, check and confirm that the microphone is correct.

Thanks for the estimated help, my problem was not the pickit, but the module was riding the pic, I had a series of jumpers that I had to configure according to the pic I wanted to program ... I learned to use it correctly, and I started using it burn to full ... once again thanks for the help.

Hi buddy! I have the pickit 3 and the zif socket that comes with 3 jumpers, when placing 18f pics .... it detects them automatically, but the 16f .... no. Not even entering it manually. You say that according to the jumpers configurations it is possible to detect it to program, how is it? Can you explain to me or if you want I open a topic. Thank you so much

Greetings . You must put the jumpers as indicated for each pic and also position the pic in the specific part of the socket so that it can be detected.
for 16f, I use it in my case, J1 in B, J2 of 2-3 and J3 of 2-3.
also when placing the pickit3 the last terminal is empty since the socket has only 5 pins. ( At least in my case ) .

Yes, thank you very much! I observed in detail that on the same plate it specifies you how to place them and how to put the jumpers: D only that in a hurry I did not look carefully.
Apart there was a legend that said pic 16f then I placed it there, but there it was not: / haha, it was in gift of said DIP 14/16/20 or something like that (which refers to the number of pins that the pic has).
Greetings and thanks!
