assemble a timer with 555 coupled with a MOC3021 to a BT138 600E, can I load the coil of a 220V contactor? Or is it better to use some power transistor?

Hi. If you are going to directly control the coil with the triac you should place a snubber net to protect it from a strong inductive load such as the coil. This is nothing more than a resistor and a series capacitor (1K and 10 nF x 400V) placed between A1 and A2 of the triac.
