24v start problem

Hi, I have a 24v prestolite starter that they gave it to me because I did not turn, I did a collector rectification service (with the armature tester is ok), bushings and replace the brushes, the field looks good ... the subject is good ... that by putting it together and trying it, it turns very little and I notice that at least one or more of the brushes is reheated to red and smokes ... with the hand it turns well, it does not work ... I have several doubts and I do not have much time to go testing if it happened to someone I would appreciate it ...

Probably if something is not grounded, it can be brush holder, induced, fields ... if the inductometer tells you that it is not short, something must be grounded

You must take it apart to test all the parts, it is the way to be sure.

Thanks Hugo for your recommendations ... the rotor in one part is only grounded ... I will send it for repair, so I will replace it with a replacement one. Thank you

Hi. The inductor may mark you that it is correct but if you have two or three short fields or derivatives, it will also do so. With a tester check between each brush and the metal body. There should be no measurement. On the other hand, make a good cleaning of the collector between the seaweed and clean the area of the carbon holders. The dust they give off is conductive. regards

Hello thanks for the answer ... I have a question, the test should I do it continuously or on Ohm's scale?
