Correct power factor in three-phase motors

Dear friends, I am an electrician and I have to correct the power factor in three-phase motors. Previously I have done it successfully in single-phase motors but never in three-phase motors. I have a cofimetric clamp and the formula to calculate it. My question is whether they connect in a star or triangle, because I saw them in both ways, and if the calculation of the formula is for each capacitor or for the total capacitors. Sorry for my ignorance, thank you very much, I await your response. regards

There is a power factor for each phase, but as the motor behaves symmetrically between the three phases, that is, between each of them there are 120 electrical degrees, it must be the same, unless you use it as single phase. I have always seen the three-phase capacitors, and I say I have seen them because I have disassembled them to see them inside, connected in a triangle, not in a star, because in this way they are each directly connected to the line that is their objective, because in star they would remain Always two of them connected in series through the neutral point.

Ah perfect José Daniel. I had seen them in diagrams only. Thank you very much for your help

If you have to measure active power (kW / h) and reactive power (kVAr / h) you can go through the formula: cos = (tan ^ - (kVArh / kWh)) and as it gets closer to 1 or away You will know if to put more or less. Salu2 from Cuba.

If I have a cofimetric clamp it has for measurement of active and reactive. In monophasic circuits I have used it successfully on all occasions but I had that doubt. Thank you very much for your help. regards
