Hi, I have a single-phase motor, whose connections are made of a 1.5mm cable, the question is, the cable should not be at least 2.5mm, since when the engine starts, it consumes its electric current five times more.

It is not necessary the case the peak of current will be only for 2 sg and there is happens to consume the nominal for that subject of the cable do not worry. I tell you because I work with two-phase and three-phase motors that consume up to 7 amps and work with cables that come out of the winding of the same caliber as you indicate. Regards

Hi. Actually the cable section will depend on the engine power. If you have a 1.5 mm² cable, it should be sufficient. What power is it? Regards

If you work with 220V this section is fine except that the distances are very long.

Sorry, I read 20 meters. If there are 12 with 1.5 it will walk well If you want to place more section there are no problems.
