How are you. I need to know if I can replace a 2n5401s transistor with a 2n5401 and what could happen in doing so? Thanks in advance.

If you can replace it because they are electrically equal, just look at the arrangement of the contacts.



They are the same transistor with different encapsulation and different power capacity. The 5401 is capable of dissipating 630mW while the 5401S is only 350mW. I do not recommend that replacement without first checking the current working conditions as it could be working at more than 350mW.
