Water Heaters (Calefones)

CLEANING SERPENTINA CALEFÓN ORBIS TO BUTTON OF 14Lts

Good afternoon, A year ago (MAR / 17) this new water heater was placed. I consulted with the factory because I am not having enough water pressure in the hot water tap and it was difficult for me to turn on so I have to do it with the help of other tap. The base of the tank that is 1000 Lts is 6 m high, so the pressure should be good. I took out the water filter that is at the entrance of the water heater and it was clean. The water inlet at the base of the water heater is good, 6 liters per minute. But at the exit it does not reach 3 Lts x mint. For this reason they told me that I should have the serpentine cleaned. In some videos of youtoube they indicate that it is made with 4 parts of white alcohol vinegar and one part of muriatic acid. I looked at the forum of Yo Reparo, and I only found an answer from 10 years ago, where it says that it is not good to do it with acid because it can damage the welds. The specific question would be to know what is the liquid solution used for this type of cleaning. Thanks greetings, Jorge

Friend good afternoon check the diaphragms of the heater? Low pressure is also caused by a diaphragm in poor condition. Change the diaphragms ... if the problem persists the way to clean the coil ... is with water or pressurized air ... it is the least harmful way for the coil ... some use bleach for those jobs ... I will I recommend air or water under pressure. I hope I have helped Regards

Hi Mauro, thank you very much for your response. But being a new water heater and with little use, (only I use it), do you think that so soon, in less than a year the diaphragm could have been damaged? Because I have no idea.
As I was told in this area the water is a bit heavy and very calcified, that's why it seemed logical to me, or what I was told in ORBIS, (that the problem was that it was covered with zarro).
If you think you would try to give the serpentine a wash first. If I use white alcohol vinegar alone, do you think it could be very corrosive?

I understand friend .. you have to discard everything !! ..
According to my experience, so that the coil is clogged with zarro, many more years must pass before this process is consolidated.
A fissure in the diaphragms sounds more plausible.
But it does not hurt that you clean the corrosion factor is low if you use vinegar and industrial alcohol .has the cleaning. !!
If you continue in trouble let me know
Regards!

Mauro friend. The fact that the diaphragm is deteriorated and even that it does not have it does not influence the water flow but would cause ignition problems. Never flow. Regards

Hi. You can remove the serpentine and fill it with common vinegar leaving it overnight. If you can leave it 24 hours much better. When you circulate water, a white liquid that is dissolved tartar will come out. Regards

Thank you very much for the advice, Mauro and Servimat1. I will try to fill the serpentine with vinegar. I started results as soon as I could.
Thanks again many greetings,
Jorge

Hi Servimat, I was able to clean the serpentine with white vinegar and the water flow was normalized in all the faucets even where there was almost no pressure. Avoid by all means of removing the serpentine. I could find on the web some videos that showed practical ways of doing the cleaning, for example devising a container with a bucket and circulating the vinegar with a washing machine pump. That way I was very complicated, but following the same concept, I could devise doing it without the bomb. I took a large soda bottle, adapted a hose joint. At the other end of the hose I made the adaptation to a 1/2 "threaded female and screwed it into the inlet of the water heater. I packed the bottle on the roof beam that is above the water level. I filled it with white vinegar. , and I circulated it through the serpentine. I left it for a while. Then I opened the outlet of the water heater circuit, picked up the vinegar in a bucket, filtered it and repeated the process several times until no more tartar came out. Everything worked perfect. So I am grateful for the help, received on this site, because if I had not received the advice received, I would not have been able to do all this. Many greetings, Jorge
