Ignition Key Assembly

Good Morning. I have a model 31405V Volcano heater that intermittently turned off the pilot. In order to clean it, I disassemble the ignition key to lubricate its moving parts. This consists of three pieces: two aluminum and a bronze stem. It adjusts to the body of the heater by means of two screws. By placing the parts in position and tightening the screws, the ignition knob remains locked in the off position. This happens because a small cam that has the ignition key rod enters a guide that is fixed in the heater, which does not allow it to rotate to the pilot position. I tried in how many positions it was possible, but there is only one way to arm it, and that position is where it is locked. Please, if someone can help me with the issue of the assembly of the key, since the budgets passed to me by brand technicians are exorbitant. From already thank you very much.

hello: see if the cone is not locked, try to turn it and take it out, check the gas passages of the cone holes that are not covered and grease it with graphitized grease when armes positions the cone groove upwards and matches the bolt and groove of if the aluminum part arrives if the screws do not match you, turn the whole piece without taking it out, rotate until the screws enter and coincide if the pilot went out it could be a thermocouple fault, control the thermocouple adjustment with the magnetic unit check that the pilot call him fully to the tip of the thermos if it continues to turn off change the thermocouple greetings

Again, very grateful for your advice. The cylinder that has the guide to move the bolt that allows to pass the pilot and regulate the flame was locked, very locked! not allowing to pass either a pilot or the regulation of the flame. In principle due to ignorance I thought it was a fixed piece, but after your advice I realized that I had to turn. I softened it with WD40 and with a clamp, with the plunger on, I could take it to the pilot position, having unlocked. I only have to arm it again, and verify the issue of the thermocouple and some pilot cleaning. Many grac

Unlock the cylinder where the bolt enters with the cam, inserting the cylinder and the cam and with the help of a clamp, bring the bolt to the pilot position. At least that is how I unlocked it, sprinkling the WD40 cylinder before loosening it. Assemble in that position (pilot) that the pieces fit themselves.

I am glad to know that you could solve it, do not forget to take the cone out of the bronze piece that you turned to unlock fat with graphitized grease so that greetings are not locked again

Thank you very much again Luis, precisely what I did before assembling again taking care not to obstruct the holes.
Greetings.
